A Reichstag Do: The Forger’s Kabarett

Art and events collaborative duo, Mark Scott-Wood & Sam Tring present, A Reichstag Do: The Forger’s Cabaret, a night of glitz and glamour celebrating the final moments of the Weimar era before the oppression. With cabaret acts, live music, the obscure and the avant-garde.

The fourth and final instalment in their series of special events taking place at the WW Gallery, will see internationally renowned and celebrated stars including Honey Wilde and La Voix take to the stage at the Kabarett Bar as part of current exhibition, The Forger’s Tale: The Quest for Fame and Fortune from artists Kevin Broughton and Fiona Birnie.

Performing Live:
Honey Wilde, the “Iron Lady of Burlesque”, has won fans around the UK and across the Atlantic since 2008 with her quirky comic creations. A headliner at the Festival of the Erotic Arts in 2012, Honey’s many performances include featuring at the New York Burlesque Festival, London Burlesque Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Named one of the top 100 burlesque performers worldwide in 2010 (21st Century Burlesque), Honey breathes life and spirit into the tradition of British satirical burlesque.

La Voix, award winning, internationally renowned Drag artist. As seen on ITV1s Britain’s Got Talent. Who’s vocal trickeries and impersonations are scarily accurate, shatteringly hilarious. A sharp, quick witted tongue who’s voice rocks the foundations

Jaz Delorean, the front man of Tankus the Henge, Jaz brings as much energy, fun and madness to his solo performances as he does with Tankus. Gravelly east end vocals accompanied by manic rag style keyboard playing. Brought up around the famous Carters Steam fair, Jaz’s music definitely reflects his unconventional upbringing.

Frank Sanazi, The Ubermeister of Lounge brings a new order and discipline to the usually more relaxed swing style. He has embraced the modern idiom by singing about and reflecting on the world around him. As his music and style originate from his homeland he has preferred to call the whole movement ‘Fatherlounge’.

DJ: Hayley Hare, hailing from the North East, Hayley is one of the staples in the Newcastle clubbing scene, bringing her unique blend of Hi-NRG, Avant-Garde and the obscure. Expect to hear Klaus Nomi and the Cabaret Soundtrack.

The exhibition, The Forger’s Tale: The Quest for Fame & Fortune, chronicles the tragic events that led to the demise of twentieth century forger Georg Bruni.

It presents an experiential narrative, in which the viewer is led through Bruni’s story room by room. From the documentary cinema kiosk, to the Collectors and Regenerate Rooms surveying German art from the Berlin Dada exhibition and the Degenerate Art Show, and finally to the wild and grotesque performance of the Cabaret; the spirit and atmosphere of Bruni’s Berlin is evoked.
