Mitte Gallery  is pleased to present a selection of limited edition prints, drawings and a booksculpture –Metabook as part ofAdd To My Library international art project, by multidisiplinary London based artist Christina Mitrentse.

In a globalised environment dominated by digitization, e-learning and restriction to education, Add To My Library (2010-ongoing), alludes to an idiosyncratic art institution designed to provoke changes in the function of the material book inviting the viewers to re-contextualise bibliograhic experience.

Mitrentse is known for having invented an innovative on-going methodology, a BIBLIOGRAPHIC DATA FLOW that compiles favorite book titles/authors, selected by international specialists and celebrities from the art world, ie curators, artists, museologists etc.

The series of graphite & colour pencil drawings on paper, depicting the contributed books  (from vol II & IIII penguin classic collection), as building-blocks of popular institutions, ‘Podiums’ & Plinths.  A selection of limited edition silkscreen prints entitled ‘FLAGS’ 50x70cm will form a wall-based installation at Mitte. They represent symbols made by appropriating the artist’s book collection that has formed her artistic Identity over the last 15 years.  The METABOOK is a hand screen-printed book-sculpture includes 10 plates produced in a four-colour separation process, produced in a limited edition of 5 copies, signed and numbered by the artist. Two identical hard covers made by recycled light grey card feature artist ‘s logo and it comes with a handprintedbookcase. Dimensions: 31×41x 2cm.

Highly descriptive and meticulous, Christina Mitrentse’s works are humorous, sardonic and nostalgic at the same time. They marry aspects of Pop Art and realistic representation to underpin ongoing manifold site-specific productions.
