Black Swan Arts is now inviting submissions to the 2014 Arts Open competition and exhibition. The competition is in its 12th year and will encompass a diverse range of works including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print, photography and digital media.
The Open attracts some of the best contemporary artists and makers working in the UK and will be judged by respected arts’ practitioners and academics from a variety of backgrounds and fields of expertise. We are delighted to announce our 2014 judges as: Meryl Ainslie, artist and director of Rabley Drawing Centre; the renowned installation and light artist, Bruce Munro; Shelley James, glass artist, Frome resident and graduate of The Royal College; artist and sculptor Stephen Haines and the artist, Frome resident and former curator at the V&A, Christopher Bucklow.
Up to seventy works will be selected for the open exhibition that will run from 6th December until 10th January 2015 with a launch evening prize giving on Friday 5th December.
In addition to selection further prizes include:
- £750 first prize
- £250 Bax Family Fine Arts Prize
- £250 Peoples’ Choice Award
- The Rabley Graduate Prize (drawing/printmaking course with artist mentoring).
- The Glass Hub Prize of a one-day glassblowing experience
A maximum of 4 works can be submitted at £10 per entry. Work in any medium will be considered including fine, applied and digital works.
