7:00pm – 10:00pm
We are conducting the next ‘Bricks’ exhibition in Area 10; a raw, industrial, artist led space, in Peckham.
‘Bricks’ exhibits artworks that are in effect their own systems existing and operating within the world they inhabit. The emphasis is on the artwork’s ability to be active with its surroundings rather than trying to remain independent or reflective of them.
We approach spaces that have lost their original purpose, and can now function as a space of conceptual and visual realisation. These spaces retain their identity as different and apart from the artwork, creating dialectics between the space and the art exhibited, ensuring that the work isn’t absorbed into, and presented as, an extension of the generic gallery whole.
In this instance we want to run parallels between the exposure of the historical industrialism of the space in concern, and the conceptual fabrication and curation of all integrated artworks. Through the revelation of all the constituent elements of the show, we hope to construct a dynamic dialogue between artwork, viewer and the contextual surroundings;
Area 10-project space can only be described as vast. We will be utilising the main warehouse and outdoor courtyard which gives us the resources to accommodate an expansive array of practises from a diverse range of artists.
The exhibition will open on the 28th of November from 7pm-10pm, and run until the 3rd of December, Open from 10am to 5pm.
