Catherine Borowski: Concrete Communications

‘Concrete Communications’ is the first major solo show by sculptor Catherine Borowski. A contemporary artist, living and working in London, Borowski is creatively motivated by the notion of the non-place, the banal and the everyday.

Borowski’s Concrete Communications presents a series of work observing the new class system, emerging trends and interior decoration; influenced by her youth growing up on a North London council estate.

Catherine’s work takes everyday occurrences and reinvents them to directly question their initial intention. Broum (2013) features a redundant broom, rendered useless with a plaster handle and bristles. While Concrete Communications (2013), features concrete smart phones, addressing the obsession of social media in a world where facebook and twitter are ubiquitous.
