Ceramic Art York is a new three-day showcase of leading contemporary ceramics coming to York this September.
The event should prove popular with homeowners and collectors alike, with 50 artists who have been handpicked to reveal the vibrancy and diversity of ceramics being created today.
From refined porcelain jugs to quirky hand painted vases this is a great chance to see a huge selection of studio ceramics and buy directly from the makers!
Discover the potential hidden within a slab of clay…
- From the beautifully made porcelain bowls, mugs and homeware of Tamsin Arrowsmith-Brown which are decorated with simple blue motifs inspired by embroidery and knitting to the expressive earthenware of Dylan Bowen who aims to capture the spontaneity and action of the making process in his work.
- Take a closer look at Anna Lambert’s charming hand built bowls, candlesticks and forms which reflect her connection with the fragile environment, from wild bleak moorland to bird filled hedgerows.
- James Hake’s wheel-thrown stoneware ceramics range from huge platters to tiny lidded jars. Decorated with oriental glazes many of which are made using local materials which he gathers from quarries and clay seams in the countryside around his studio.
With an exciting programme of talks, discussions, demonstrations and films Ceramic Art York offers visitors an insight into this popular art form and collectors an opportunity to see a fantastic selection of studio ceramics and buy directly from the maker.
Ruth King, renowned ceramic artist and Chair of Ceramic Art York says:
