From 13th-15th November Hay-on-Wye will play host to a range of top artists, critics, curators and musicians for a weekend of lively debates, stunning art performances, and top-notch live music sets. The Art Sessions will explore the issues at the heart of contemporary art with this year’s theme Art in an Ephemeral Age – topics including performance, environmental art and installation will be taking centre stage.
Our guest speakers will include former head of The Ruskin School, Michael Archer, Radio 4 presenter Godfrey Barker, sculptor Richard Wentworth, graffiti artist Felix Braun, and curators from The Saatchi Gallery, The ICA and Hayward Gallery. Legendary visual art performers The Paper Cinema will be performing their magical blend of illustration and film with The Lost World and The Night Flyer, and musician Richard ‘Kid’ Strange will be performing classics from his thirty-year career. Then every night from 10pm until the early hours, djs including Alan McGee and Death Disco will be mixing up the best cuts of reggae, 80’s pop, acid house, and more.
