A collection of texts and image essays through which film-makers, artists and theoreticians reflect on where ‘the political’ comes into their work and how making films turns into a political practice itself.
To launch the publication, the editor Tobias Hering, film-maker Elke Marhöfer and film theoretician and community video practitioner Ed Webb-Ingall will host an evening at The Showroom. Their discussion will be informed by a screening of Elke Marhöfer’s film prendas – ngangas – enquisos – machines {each part welcomes the other without saying}, (2014), researched and shot in Cuba, and film excerpts from the context of 1970s British film and video collectives.
The book is published by Archive Books, 2014.
The book launch is supported by the Goethe-Institut London.
