Jake and Dinos Chapman transform the galleries into a space for children and families to delight in the macabre. Drawing on their forthcoming book Bedtime Tales for Sleepless Nights published by Fuel, the commission includes original etchings of modern-day fairy tales told in poetry and illustrated with intricate, fantastical drawings.
A Whitechapel Gallery colouring book accompanies the commission along with bookable drawing and poetry workshops for children run by the artists.
In April 2009 the Whitechapel Gallery re-opened its doors after an ambitious expansion transforming its spaces and doubling its size. The century-old institution is the artists’ gallery for everyone. With beautiful galleries, exhibitions, artist commissions, collection displays, historic archives, education resources, inspiring art courses and a dining room, the expanded Gallery is open all year round, so there will always be something free to see.
