What happens to your senses when the lights go out?
‘Music in the dark’ – unique and intimate acoustic guitar performances by local artist and musician Jean-Pierre Mas
For just three performances in August, local artist and musician Jean-Pierre Mas will take his audiences on a journey in the dark through Oriental, Spanish, Gypsy and Celtic soundscapes. Says Jean-Pierre: “Hearing music in the dark is a totally different sensory experience. You can be surrounded by sounds without any visual distraction. Come along and find out what happens when the light is switched off and you’re left only with your hearing to appreciate the sound”.

Jean-Pierre is a French musician and artist who now lives in Walthamstow. His music on Spanish guitar explores a diversity of genres such as Latin, Flamenco, African and Arabic. Jean Pierre has developed his own unique style of music, performing in the darkness he expresses his ideas through improvisation.
Jean-Pierre’s personal journey has taken him from his birthplace in a small village in France then on to Paris where he lived for 10 years. He came to London in 2000 and settled in Walthamstow. He says: “Since I came to Walthamstow my art has flourished in many ways, I love working within such a culturally diverse area which is alive with artists, I certainly feel at home here”.
