Negotiating Patronage

The context for art practice in Turkey
With Dr Andrea Phillips, public programme curator, Istanbul Biennial 2013; Övül Durmusoglu, independent curator, 2013, and visual arts writerFisun Güner.

Like many countries worldwide, Turkey’s current artistic boom is funded by private money from banks and large corporations, with no or very limited support for cultural activities from the state. Burak Delier’s practice often questions his position as an artist and the difficulties associated with negotiating the politics of this situation. Join us for a panel discussion to further explore the issue of patronage.
