Paint Jobs by Pen dalton

The crypt at St Marylebone Church has for the last two years has quietly hosted the works, in solo exhibitions, of members of the Contemporary British Painters group in displays of outstanding painting.

This show by Pen Dalton, exhibits paintings that she identifies with the working-class notion of ‘the paint job”. The term ‘paint job’ – unlike fine art painting – unashamedly reveals painting as an economic activity and sets out to produce a high finish, a pleasing decorative effect, and a meretricious display of technique.
