Q-Art is an independent student and graduate run organisation that works to break down barriers, supporting people into, through and beyond art education.
The crit is a model of learning whereby artists present their work to a group in order to gain feedback on how that work is being read and ways that they might develop it further. They are part of almost every art course at further and higher level education throughout the UK. Nottingham Trent University will be hosting an open Cross-College Crit, bringing together artists of all backgrounds from across the East Midlands region.
These crits provide a supportive and critically engaged atmosphere, which encourages constructive feedback for participants and an opportunity for students to learn from a broad range of perspectives and levels of experience, as well as to learn in a non-assessed peer led environment.
Q-Art actively promotes equality and diversity within the visual arts by encouraging people from all backgrounds, ages and perspectives to engage with art. The crits can enable students to build a network of contacts and support outside of their immediate peer group, and help prepare them for professional life after art school.
