This survey exhibition, Richard Patterson’s first show in London since 2008, featuring works painted between 1997 and 2013, will coincide with the launch of a new monograph of the British artist published by Ridinghouse featuring texts by Martin Herbert, Toby Kamps and Jeremy Strick.
Patterson’s complex, multi-layered paintings sit firmly within the grand traditions of European and American art. His work is steeped in pop cultural allusions from the realms of film, magazines, music, advertising and consumer culture, whilst simultaneously engaging with the connections between painting, iconography and narrative.
