Helen Hester presents a paper focusing on how to apply American film scholar Linda Williams’ idea of ‘the frenzy of the visible’ to materials that attempt to articulate non-phallic arousal and sexual pleasure. In doing so, she will explore how porn, and visual artists responding to porn, develop strategies for visually representing erotic affects that do not necessarily lend themselves to easy visualisation.
