TINTYPE is delighted to present There’s a Strange Wind Blowing, which is both the title of the show and of a puppet performance that Korda developed during a recent residency in the Czech Republic. The narrative hinges on a fictional meeting on a mountain top between two ‘real’ characters, the mountaineer Annie Smith Peck and Walt Disney. The performance is staged in a 1940s kitchen cabinet that becomes a Wunderkammer of surprise and illusion.
Serena Korda was awarded the Deutsche Bank Prize and the Start Point Prize for her graduate show at the RCA in 2009. She has just been awarded a major commission for the Wellcome Trust.
